Last summer, one of my role models died. Together with a close friend, I wrote an obituary for Ann Elizabeth Nelson.

The High Energy Physics community lost a great mind, an unequivocal activist and one of our kindest members. Ann’s joy in curiosity was the perfect antidote for the anxiety that threatened to ruin my fun in physics on more than one occasion. Her support provided an important pillar on which many unmissable scientists managed to build a career. We all need to step up to fill the hole she leaves behind.
